New Brows- Steps

To see the video tutorial click here.

Step 1 | Groom: Tweeze and shape your brows, then trim the front section of your brows so that they're symmetrical with the width of the rest of your brows.

Step 2| Shade: Using a small angle brush, (I use Sigma E75 brush) and Anastasia Brow Powder in Ash and Taupe to shade the brow. I use the lighter powder for the inside of the brow and the darker powder for the rest of the brow.

Step 3 | Define: Take a small eyeliner brush, (I use Sigma E11 brush) and Dipdown (MAC gel liner) line the bottom of the line, keeping the line light toward the front of the brow. Make sure to blend the gel liner in the front section. You can use a brow pencil instead of the Dipdown for lighter brows.

Step 4 | Carve: Using any flat concealer brush (I use an Essence of Beauty conceal brush), use your under eye concealer to carve out the shape of the brow. In this step, you are sealing the edged of the line so they are clean and sharp. Repeat with the top of the brow, except use your foundation or a concealer closer to the shade you use on your face.

Old vs New Eyebrows- Differences

So I recently updated my brow tutorial, both in these videos and on my youtube channel. Here are the main differences:

  • Before I lined the brow with the Dipdown (MAC Fuidline gel liner) first. Now I fill them in with powder first. Powdering in the brows over the gel liner muted the definition of the liner. I prefer more contrast in the bottom line of the brows.
  • I use a small eyeliner brush (Sigma E11 brush) to define the brows with the Dipdown. I get a more precise and clean application as opposed to the thick and soft line I used to get when I used an angle brush.
  • How many of you have seen those pics floating around tumblr and instagram of the girls with their brows boxed in white foundation? In order to amend this problem, I replaced carving the brow on top with foundation instead of concealer! It's way easier to blend and you don't have to worry about those white lines around the brows!

Still, there are those who prefer the first method of the second which is fine, because it's really about what works best for you! My techniques continue to grow and evolve so I'm sure this will not be the last brow update!

My First Blog Post Ever!!!

Allow me to reintroduce myself..

My name is Christina, I'm 25 years old and I'm a makeup artist. I grew up in the Bay Area, CA and moved to Los Angeles about 3 years ago to attend UCLA and pursue my dreams (of I don't know what yet). I started posting pictures of my makeup on instagram and things just grew from there. I would describe myself as loving, silly, independent and loyal. Part of the reason I love doing makeup is the relationships you form and the people you meet. For me it's more than just makeup- it's a form of self expression, a go-to confidence booster, and secret source of superhero power!

SO... I will be using this blog as a forum for questions and information about all of my makeup looks! I will be posting new looks and re-posting some of my old makeup looks with all of the product information!

Right now, most of the questions/comments submitted to me are through instagram. The interface on instagram is not ideal for dialogue, in fact it's quite difficult, which is why I so rarely answer questions on there. I will do my best to answer every question I get on here! And don't be afraid to ask or give feedback! :)

Warmly,

Chrisspy
