Pink Hair for All...

Cursed is he who introduced me to this iphone App! It's called BeautifyFree (it's free lol). You can paint your hair a different color or even change your eyes.. which I haven't tried yet. Any ways this is the first time I used it, I took a photo of blonde-chrisspy and updated her to mermaid-chrisspy. I'm slightly embarrassed I'm even writing this post...

The only thing is that once you save, it leaves a watermark on the photo. In case you didn't notice, it reads "Make with Beautify."  *SMH... As a language major I feel both amusement and sadness. (Die grammar!!! Diee!!!)

Well anyways, I cropped that shit out! If you're like me, then this app will be the perfect enabler to your procrastination problem.

Rainbow Hair

I got a chance to try the Anastasia HyperColor Brow and Hair Powders! Here is the result!

1 | PREP:  It said to prep the hair with glossing cream, styling wax or leave in conditioner. I didn't have any of that so I just used a CVS detangler that I had lying around, which worked fine!

2| Separate: It was most useful to take about 1-2" sections at a time. I curled the hair before, which I wouldn't recommend! It would have been much easier to apply to straight hair!

3| Apply: Make sure you wear gloves and clothes that you don't care about ruining! It was SUPER messy! I sprayed the hair with the detangler then rubbed it directly in the pot. I started with the green shade at the bottom of the hair first and worked my way up. I would also recommend putting a towel underneath the section of hair you're working on. Soooo soo messy.. I should have taken a pictures of my floor!

4| Set: The final step is to set the hair with hairspray to sort of seal the color in. Before I did that I used a makeup sponge to blend the final color (pink) up into the hair.

Results: All in all I was satisfied with this product, it had a great color pay off, surprisingly neon! The only downfall is that you probably wouldn't want to wear white with it because the color would transfer! These colors are HIGHLY pigmented and also double as eyeshadows or brow powders (though I haven't tired them yet!)

Where: They're available at Ulta stores December 26th or at www.anastasia.net If anyone ends up trying them let me know how they worked out for you!

New Brows- Steps

To see the video tutorial click here.

Step 1 | Groom: Tweeze and shape your brows, then trim the front section of your brows so that they're symmetrical with the width of the rest of your brows.

Step 2| Shade: Using a small angle brush, (I use Sigma E75 brush) and Anastasia Brow Powder in Ash and Taupe to shade the brow. I use the lighter powder for the inside of the brow and the darker powder for the rest of the brow.

Step 3 | Define: Take a small eyeliner brush, (I use Sigma E11 brush) and Dipdown (MAC gel liner) line the bottom of the line, keeping the line light toward the front of the brow. Make sure to blend the gel liner in the front section. You can use a brow pencil instead of the Dipdown for lighter brows.

Step 4 | Carve: Using any flat concealer brush (I use an Essence of Beauty conceal brush), use your under eye concealer to carve out the shape of the brow. In this step, you are sealing the edged of the line so they are clean and sharp. Repeat with the top of the brow, except use your foundation or a concealer closer to the shade you use on your face.

Old vs New Eyebrows- Differences

So I recently updated my brow tutorial, both in these videos and on my youtube channel. Here are the main differences:

  • Before I lined the brow with the Dipdown (MAC Fuidline gel liner) first. Now I fill them in with powder first. Powdering in the brows over the gel liner muted the definition of the liner. I prefer more contrast in the bottom line of the brows.
  • I use a small eyeliner brush (Sigma E11 brush) to define the brows with the Dipdown. I get a more precise and clean application as opposed to the thick and soft line I used to get when I used an angle brush.
  • How many of you have seen those pics floating around tumblr and instagram of the girls with their brows boxed in white foundation? In order to amend this problem, I replaced carving the brow on top with foundation instead of concealer! It's way easier to blend and you don't have to worry about those white lines around the brows!

Still, there are those who prefer the first method of the second which is fine, because it's really about what works best for you! My techniques continue to grow and evolve so I'm sure this will not be the last brow update!
